Relaxing Scraplift Sunday

Well, it was a nice and relaxing weekend in my house.  I had a few kids gone for one night, and my oldest worked all weekend.  I made time for scrapping in between the cleaning and sure enjoyed having the windows wide open again.  I'll head back to work tomorrow feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.  It's a wonder what 2 mornings of sleeping in until 8am can do.

Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues today inspired me so much, it was a great layout that I fell in love with the minute I saw it.  A great way to use up little odds and ends for wood veneers, embellies, etc.

Tegan Skwiat is the original scrapper, creating this gorgeous layout... bright, summery, just amazing.  Jumps right out at you!!!

Mine, well, it didn't turn out as I had envisioned.  I used the Making Waves collection from Fancy Pants which is a great collection to use for boy layouts!!  I didn't have as many wood veneers as I would have liked that went well with the layout, so I added in some other things to spruce it up too.

It was great to sit at the table, the kids even gave me an hour UNINTERRUPTED.  Yup.

Til next time!

Scraplift Sunday got me scrappin!

I got a little scrappy on the weekend, thanks to the Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group.  The original layout was done by Kelly Feldman, which is right here in all it's glory... love the look of the hanging photos and cards!!!

I pulled out some pictures that I've been wanting to scrap and cut them down so they'd fit going across a bit better without taking up the entire space.  Fussy cutting out some owls and slapping on some thickers finished this off perfectly!  The fun colors of the papers definately helped my darker photos brighten up a little bit....  Here's my take on it!

I'm doing pretty good at using up some papers that are in my stash before buying new stuff the last little bit.  All of my papers fit into one container which is super awesome, I know where everything is and never feel like I have too much.  :)  If you ask my man, however, I'm sure he'll have a different opinion on that one.

Have yourselves a wonderful day!!!!

New Recipe!!

So, we eat the same things every damn day.  Same old meals, same old ways.  Every once in awhile I'll come across a recipe that makes me want to switch things up, no matter how big of a mess it makes in my kitchen.

There's countless videos on FB lately from Tasty and Delish that tease your tastebuds and make things look super simple.  One popped up the other day that I saved, and decided to try it out yesterday.

TUSCAN CHICKEN PASTA was good.  It wasn't phenomenal.  But I also didn't follow every single step.  I used garlic powder instead of real garlic, and I forgot to save the pasta water so I just threw in regular water.  And I used way too much pasta, so it was a bit on the dry side.  I'd prefer it with more sauce.

Hopefully something else will pop out at me soon, because I am resorting to bbq'ing porkchops tonight, and I detest porkchops.

We were gone all of Easter weekend so I didn't get any scrappy time in, so I just figured I'd share my second favorite thing... food.

Have a spectacular day.

Happy Spring!

Hello all!  They say it's Spring, but I still have yet to believe it...  we've had a few days of melting weather but then it turned to -20's over the weekend again.  I just want to open all of my windows all day long and air my house out already!

However, this past weekend I DID take part in something super springy!  Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} held another online crop and I had a fun time crafting and trying to chat (I was seriously trying to stay on the crafting side...) and managed almost 6 challenges!  I also managed to reorganize my paper and embellishments and scrap room in the middle of it all which felt REALLY good.

This layout was done for a 'just say no, to kids' challenge that had me looking for those few and far between pictures without my minions in them!!  Used the picture of Darcy and I from the day we got engaged in Vegas, one of the few pictures of us together!!

And the 'but first, let me take a selfie' challenge was another real challenge for me, as I rarely take selfies!!!!  I had to cut out my head, as there were work related things in the background which I can't post online so..... I improvised, and actually love how it turned out. :)

'Negative Space' is something I LOVE.  I'm not shy about leaving a lot of blank space, baby.... and I'll write your name.  Well, I won't write your name but I bet you're singing now too.....  One of my favorite pictures of my littlest one, he's such a camera pleaser!

THANK YOU Paper Issues DT for putting on such a fantastic online crop.  The challenges were fun, and the chatting as always was a great way to spend the weekend!!

Welcome to 2016?

More than a day late and much more than a dollar short!  I'll be trying to get my blog back up and running and hopefully a redesign coming soon as well.  Time to change things up!

I have been crafting, however sporadic it may have been.... here are a few of my favorites from the last few months!

I'm taking part in an online crop this weekend in the Paper Issues FB group, so hopefully I'll have some more to post in the coming week....  If you need some inspiration, head on over and join up!

Happy? Monday!

It's summertime, which means that Mondays don't hold the usual thrill for me that they do during school months.  I don't have quiet time, I don't have that leisurely coffee on the couch watching Young and the Restless before getting ready for work....  So Monday is just a Monday right now. lol

Sketchy Saturday at Paper Issues brought us a sketch by the uber talented Steph Buice, I love her work and was very excited to see that they had chosen one of hers to use. :)

Here is the sketch:

And here is what I did with it, using of course, some of the remaining Color Chaos papers from Bella Blvd.  I swear, I'm almost out of this stuff. ;)

Such a fun sketch, you could take it a whole bunch of different directions!!!

We have company coming in tonight for the week, so I doubt I'll be able to get back to the scrappy table until the weekend.  Have a great week everyone!!!

Happy 4th of July!!

I totally missed Canada Day posting on here to wish my local Canadian friends a Happy Canada Day!!  So I'll combine it with todays wish for my south of the border friends to have a wonderful day celebrating with friends and family!!!  We had a good day on Wednesday, finished off with amazing fireworks down at our beach.  Always a great time!!

I did take a few evenings this week to try and work on some scrappy stuff.... things have been busy and we were out of town as well, so it took me 4 days to get one layout finished. LOL!!  I did this one for the Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues, based on a layout from Jennifer Holloway McMurtrey.  Here is her original version, which I really really loved....

And here is my version, using October Afternoons Treasure Map line, which is so frickin' cute!!!!!!

Always some inspiring challenges for fun around the PIFF group, if you haven't yet checked it out on FB, please do!!!!!
